Well, well, well, y'all! Yesterday was National Handmade Day (yes, I’m running a day late with this post, but why not celebrate handmade every day?), and we couldn't be happier 'round these parts. You know us Southerners, we sure do love our handmade goods! From candles to signs to tiered tray decor and beyond, we believe in the beauty of a thing made by hand.
Now, you might be thinking, "Why celebrate handmade? Can't we just buy something from the store?" But let me tell you, there's just something special about knowing that the thing you're holding in your hands was made with care and love by a fellow human being. It's like you can feel their energy and passion in the item itself.
And let me tell you, we Southerners know a thing or two about handmade goods. We've got generations of folks who've been quilting, weaving, and woodworking for centuries. It's in our blood, y'all! And we're darn proud of it.
So, on this Belated National Handmade Day, we want to celebrate all the makers out there. The ones who spend hours at their craft, carefully stitching and sanding and shaping until their creation is just right. We want to give a shoutout to the basket weavers, the potters, the knitters, the soap makers, and everyone in between.
And let's not forget the joy that comes with giving and receiving a handmade gift. There's nothing quite like opening up a present and knowing that someone put their heart and soul into making it just for you.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner so how about giving your mama a truly unique handmade gift this year?
So, if you're not already a fan of handmade goods, we invite you to give it a try. Visit a local craft fair, market, or online shop and see for yourself the amazing talent that's out there. Who knows, you might just fall in love with a handmade candle, or a handmade tiered tray décor set.
And to all the makers out there, keep doing what you're doing. You're making the world a more beautiful place, one project at a time. Happy Belated National Handmade Day, y'all!
